The Rwanda Green Fund and the Ministry of Environment conducted a pre-grant award assessment for a climate resilience project in the Kayumbu watershed of Kamonyi District.
The 36-month project, prepared and submitted by ARDE/KUBAHO for funding, aims to enhance food security and agricultural productivity by addressing environmental challenges in the area. Key activities include building terraces to prevent uphill soil erosion, installing irrigation systems, and planting trees. The project will focus on engaging local farmers, especially women and youth, and promoting sustainable agriculture and market access.
During the field site visit, the team met with project beneficiaries and various local authorities, led by the Vice Mayor of Kamonyi District in charge of Economic Development.
Following the site visit, the Rwanda Green Fund and Ministry of Environment team toured the ARDE/KUBAHO offices in Kacyiru. This visit aimed to discuss and assess the institution’s capabilities in various areas, including overall management, finance, procurement, monitoring and evaluation, and environmental and social safeguards.
