ARDE KUBAHO, in partnership with Medicus Mundi, has made significant strides in the fight against malnutrition in the Kamonyi District by providing kitchen equipment to seven villages hosting women’s cooperatives.
Before the distribution, Jean Bosco NGIRIMANA from ARDE/KUBAHO addressed attendees, welcoming everyone and expressing gratitude to the district members for their presence and collaboration. He highlighted the pleasure of working together and thanked the village chiefs and the presidents of the seven women’s cooperatives for their attendance.
NGIRIMANA emphasized the importance of the village kitchen (igikoni cy’umudugudu) in combating malnutrition and encouraged widespread participation. The village chiefs and presidents of the cooperatives expressed their heartfelt emotions upon receiving the kitchen equipment, noting a significant shortage of cooking materials in their villages.
They shared the challenges of preparing meals without proper tools, often relying on household items to serve their communities. The donation of kitchen materials has come as a timely response to this pressing need. With hopes high, the community anticipates a complete eradication of malnutrition in the Kamonyi District.
Medicus Mundi, ARDE/KUBAHO, and UGAMA are collaborating as a consortium on a socioeconomic project that has successfully lifted the seven women’s cooperatives from cases of malnutrition. The women are now celebrating the progress they have made, having previously faced severe nutritional challenges. They have pledged to share the knowledge they have gained with their respective villages, furthering the impact of this initiative.
