On May 10th, 2025, the ARDE/KUBAHO team, together with members of our affiliated women’s cooperatives, took part in a deeply inspiring exchange visit with Association TUBAHUMURIZE, a local organization renowned for its psychosocial support to individuals affected by trauma — including genocide survivors, victims of gender-based violence, and people living with HIV.
The visit created a meaningful space for dialogue, learning, and connection. Our cooperative members had the opportunity to listen to powerful testimonies from the women of TUBAHUMURIZE — women who, despite experiencing severe psychological hardship, have found strength to rebuild their lives through counseling, solidarity, and personal determination.

They took time to learn from ‘‘TUBAHUMURIZE Association‘‘ practices
Through open conversations, we learned how access to psychosocial support has helped these women overcome depression, isolation, and despair. Many shared stories of how they regained confidence and hope, transforming pain into purpose.
Despite limited resources, some members of TUBAHUMURIZE secured small capital — often between Rwf 100,000 and Rwf 200,000 — and used it to start income-generating activities that have enabled them to rise above poverty. These acts of resilience reflect the true spirit of empowerment.
The visit also included an exploration of TUBAHUMURIZE’s tailoring program, which plays a vital role in equipping women with practical skills for economic independence.
This exchange left our cooperatives deeply moved and motivated. The courage, creativity, and unity of the TUBAHUMURIZE members serve as a living example of what is possible when women are supported to heal, grow, and lead.
