ARDE/KUBAHO and Medicus Mundi Join Forces to Enhance Greenhouse Farming in women cooperatives

Kamonyi, Rwanda – Rikki Minguez, a representative from Medicus Mundi, recently joined the ARDE/KUBAHO team on a field visit to assess the progress of the “GUHANGA IBISHYA BIRAMBYE” project. This project, implemented by ARDE/KUBAHO in collaboration with UGAMA and Medicus Mundi, aims to equip cooperative members with essential skills in sustainable greenhouse farming.

During the visit, cooperative members received specialized training on modern agricultural techniques designed to improve productivity and profitability. The training covered best practices in irrigation, crop rotation, and the cultivation of high-value crops such as tomatoes and colored bell peppers. Additionally, farmers were taught how to select high-quality seeds from trusted suppliers and maintain greenhouse infrastructure, including proper cleaning of irrigation pipes.

The project is expected to yield significant benefits for the participating farmers. By acquiring advanced knowledge in crop monitoring, disease and pest prevention, and efficient irrigation timing, cooperative members will be better equipped to increase their agricultural output and boost their incomes.

With Rwanda’s growing emphasis on sustainable agriculture, projects like “GUHANGA IBISHYA BIRAMBYE” play a crucial role in promoting food security and economic empowerment, particularly among rural communities.
