ARDE/KUBAHO and University of Indiana Forge New Partnership to Enhance Hygiene and Education in Rwanda

October 1, 2024* In a productive meeting, the ARDE/KUBAHO  team alongside Nancy Uslan engaged in meaningful discussions with representatives from the University of Indiana, focusing on strategic directions that align with ARDE/KUBAHO’s mission.

The meeting highlighted key areas of focus, including water management, environmental management, livelihood enhancement, capacity building, and institutional development. During the discussions, Nancy and her team showcased ARDE/KUBAHO’s success stories, while also inviting the University of Indiana team to share their own experiences.

This collaborative dialogue reinforced the commitment of both organizations to improve community well-being in Rwanda. One notable collaboration is with Kabwende Primary School in the Musanze district, which borders the Volcanoes National Park. This partnership aims to promote hygiene, sanitation, and children’s education at the school, providing much-needed support to the local community. Murenzi Paul, the President of ARDE/KUBAHO, expressed gratitude for the partnership, stating, “We really had a good discussion on partnership and our way forward.

Thank you, guys. Thank you, dear Nancy U. Thank you for your much effort and for being a big person to Rwandese, especially for the Gahondo and Kansoro communities and also for Kabwende Primary School.” As a result of these fruitful discussions, the University of Indiana team, in collaboration with ARDE/KUBAHO, has agreed to initiate a new partnership that includes a one-day training session on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) for ARDE/KUBAHO staff on Wednesday, August 15.

Additionally, they will participate in the distribution of eyeglasses to schoolchildren with vision impairments on the following day. This partnership marks a significant step forward in enhancing the quality of life for children and communities in Rwanda, demonstrating a shared commitment to education and health initiatives.
