Kamonyi District, Rwanda – January 29, 2025 – In a significant step toward empowering rural women and promoting sustainable agriculture, the Women Cooperative KOABA in Karama, Kamonyi District, has officially received a state-of-the-art greenhouse installation. The project, titled “GUHANGA IBISHYA BIRAMBYE” (Empowerment of Rural Women for Production, Networking, and Fair Trade), marks a milestone in the cooperative’s journey toward self-reliance and economic growth.
The provisional reception of the greenhouse took place on January 29, 2025, at the KOABA Cooperative in Karama Sector. The installation was carried out by INNOVATION & SOLUTION CREATOR LTD, under the supervision of ARDE/KUBAHO, with funding from VITORIA AE2023 and partnerships with UGAMAand MEDICUS MUNDI. The project aims to enhance the cooperative’s agricultural productivity, improve livelihoods, and promote fair trade practices among rural women.

A Modern Greenhouse for Sustainable Farming
The newly installed greenhouse spans an impressive 15 meters by 8 meters and is equipped with cutting-edge features to ensure efficient and sustainable farming. Key components include:

A durable metal frame and polyethylene covers for optimal crop protection.

An advanced irrigation system featuring drip pipes, solar-powered water pumps, and water storage solutions, including an underground tank for rainwater harvesting.

A reinforced fence, PVC gutters, and a water drainage system to ensure long-term durability and functionality.

Cultivation infrastructure, such as polyethylene bags and galvanized wires, to support high-quality crop production.
The greenhouse is designed to provide a controlled environment for year-round farming, enabling the women of KOABA to grow high-value crops and increase their income.
