German Embassy and ARDE/KUBAHO Partner to Upgrade WASH Facilities at Mugina Health Center

On Thursday, June 25, 2026, a Grant Agreement signing ceremony was held between the non-profit organization ARDE/KUBAHO and the Embassy of Germany to Rwanda securing funding for a crucial water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure project entitled “Improving Water and Sanitation Facilities at Mugina Health Center,” designed to upgrade health and safety infrastructure for both patients and medical staff at the facility.

Under the newly signed agreement, the project will fund several key interventions, including:

-Sanitation Facilities: The construction of a six-door latrine block, which includes dedicated, disability-friendly accessible latrines, alongside two new bathrooms.

-Water Security: The installation of 5,000-liter rainwater harvesting tank, complete with an integrated water distribution system to ensure a reliable supply of clean water.

-Community Health: The implementation of structured hygiene promotion and training programs tailored specifically for the health center’s staff and visiting patients.

The partnership underscores ongoing development cooperation between local civil society organizations and Germany to improve basic health infrastructure across rural communities in Rwanda.
